Williams Shines Despite Defeat at #3 Five Towns
DIX HILLS, NY – Despite a gritty defensive effort and a standout performance in goal from sophomore Kevin Williams, the Bryant & Stratton Buffalo men's soccer team came up short in a 4–0 road loss to #3 Five Towns College on Saturday morning.
Williams was a bright spot in net, registering an impressive 20 saves as the Bobcats weathered a relentless offensive onslaught from the Sound. The sophomore goalkeeper stood tall against 24 shots on goal, keeping Bryant & Stratton in the match until late in the second half.
"Our guys showed fight from start to finish after having less than a 16 hour turnaround from Saturday night's game," said Head Coach Averick Parker. "Kevin really kept us in it with some incredible saves. We know we need to be better in possession, but there's no quit in this team."
The Bobcats defense, led by Tamarkie Lindsay, Adriano Murray, and Solomon Bonane, held strong through early pressure, but Five Towns broke through in the 14th minute with the opening goal. Two more tallies in the 30th and 63rd minutes gave the hosts breathing room, and a late strike in the 78th sealed the result.
Offensively, Bryant & Stratton created a few key chances, with Cooper Reed, Tekle Ishak, and Jaheim Harry each putting shots on target. However, Five Towns goalkeeper Jose Garcia turned away all three shots on goal to preserve the shutout.
With the loss, Bryant & Stratton Buffalo looks to bounce back and build on their effort as they return to home action on Wednesday against top-ranked B&SC Syracuse.
Team Leaders:
-
Kevin Williams – 20 saves, 90 minutes
-
Cooper Reed, Tekle Ishak, Jaheim Harry – 1 shot on goal each
