Bobcats Drop Non-Conference Game at NCAA III foe Houghton
HOUGHTON, NY – The Bryant & Stratton College Buffalo women's basketball team dropped a tough non-conference road matchup Saturday evening, falling 80–51 to Houghton University inside the Nielsen Center.
Despite a balanced effort on the glass and several strong individual performances, the Bobcats couldn't overcome a hot-shooting Highlander squad that connected on 10 three-pointers and shot over 41 percent from the field.
Sophomore forward Iyanna King led Bryant & Stratton with a team-high 13 points and eight rebounds off the bench, providing an energetic spark throughout the second half. Jordyn Cooper-Best continued her consistent play, adding 11 points, nine rebounds, and five assists, narrowly missing a double-double.
Chelsea Johnson posted nine points, seven rebounds, and three steals, while Jaelyn Giles and Zyaire Hartfield chipped in six points apiece.
The Bobcats outrebounded Houghton 41–46 but struggled from the floor, shooting 31.7 percent (20-for-63) and 23.1 percent from three.
Houghton (1–0) was paced by Tabitha DeVries, who scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds, and Teghan Trocki, who hit four threes en route to 12 points off the bench. The Highlanders used a 24-point second quarter to pull away and never looked back, capitalizing on turnovers and efficient ball movement that led to 23 team assists.
Bryant & Stratton (Buffalo) drops to 2–1 on the season and will look to bounce back next week when they take on the undefeated (4-0) Jamestown CC Jayhawks on Tuesday November 11th. Tip is set for 6 pm in Jamestown.
