Women's Basketball Set to Kick-Off Vaden Cup Saturday as Top Seed
BUFFALO, NY - The inaugural Vaden Cup is set to begin this Saturday amongst the four Bryant & Stratton College New York State campuses. The Buffalo Bobcats women's basketball team enters as the top seed after posting a perfect 5-0 conference record and a 9-6 overall mark.
BUFFALO, NY - The inaugural Vaden Cup is set to begin this Saturday amongst the four Bryant & Stratton College New York State campuses. The Buffalo Bobcats women's basketball team enters as the top seed after posting a perfect 5-0 conference record and a 9-6 overall mark.
The Bobcats are led by second-year head coach, Brittnee Perry, who is 31-13 in two years with Buffalo. She is led this year by reining Female Athlete of the Year Alissa Johnson who is averaging just under 15 points per game. Sophomore Mary Caldwell averages 12.4 points and junior Armoni Jordan scored just over 11.
The Bobcats went 2-0 against Rochester, 2-0 against Syracuse and 1-0 against Albany. They won those games by an average of 20.8 points per game. Rochester enters as the second seed with Syracuse and Albany rounding out the seeds. Rochester will take on Syracuse in the first semifinal at 12:30 p.m. and Buffalo will play Albany at 3 p.m.
In Buffalo and Albany's only meeting of the season, Buffalo scored 100 points and won by 45 behind 23 points from Jordan. Buffalo had five players in double-figures in that game.
The women's championship game is set for 5:30 p.m. on Sunday. The third place game is at 12:30 p.m.
