Buffalo Dominates Atlantis Wire-to-Wire, 88-49
BUFFALO, NY – Bryant & Stratton College Buffalo turned in one of its most complete performances of the season on Sunday afternoon, powering past Atlantis University 88–49 at the Burt Flickinger Athletic Center. The Bobcats dominated both ends of the floor from the opening tip, shooting nearly 55% from the field while holding the Atlanteans to just 29.6% on the day.
The win featured contributions up and down the roster, highlighted by standout performances from Nahshon Sylvester and TaRon Benton, who combined for 41 points. Atlantis came into the game as one of the top teams in the USCAA, winning four games in a row, and with a 7-2 overall record. Buffalo (4-1, 0-1) allowed it's fewest points this season and bounced back from an overtime defeat to Bloomfield last Sunday, to reassert themselves as one of the USCAA's best.
Bobcats Take Command Early
Sylvester led the Bobcats with an efficient 20-point performance on 8-of-12 shooting, adding five steals and four assists to cap off a dominant two-way effort. Benton was electric off the bench, pouring in 21 points on 8-of-14 shooting, including three three-pointers. Massai Graham anchored the paint with 13 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists, while Terrian Wester added 9 boards and 2 assists in another high-impact outing.
Buffalo's defensive rotations and rebounding set the tone, as the Bobcats finished with a commanding 46–24 edge on the glass and racked up 22 assists on 35 made baskets.
How it Happened
Bryant & Stratton Buffalo opened the afternoon with sharp execution on both ends of the floor, racing out to an early lead behind a smooth pull-up jumper from Galen Waters on the game's opening possession. Moments later, Graham sliced through the defense for a transition layup, stretching the advantage to 4–0 before Atlantis University could find its footing.
The Bobcats controlled the defensive glass early, highlighted by multiple rebounds and an early steal from Phil Jones, who also assisted Sylvester on a mid-range jumper that made it 6–2. Despite a brief push from Atlantis—capped by a Sorokin three that gave AU its first lead at 7–6 - and an eventual 15-6 advantage - Buffalo responded behind an energetic second unit. Benton buried a deep three from the right wing, and back-to-back interior finishes from Arthur Dukes swung the momentum firmly back in the Bobcats' favor.
From there, Buffalo's defense erupted. Sylvester sparked a huge run with a steal and consecutive layups, then drilled a catch-and-shoot three to cap an explosive sequence that grew the lead to 22–15. Graham continued the surge with a series of powerful rebounds and a rim-shaking dunk at the 3:24 mark, one of several plays that ignited the bench and widened the margin.
The Bobcats closed the first half with complete control, getting key stops from Graham and Wester, clutch free throws from Sylvester, and a composed possession game that pushed the lead to 40–26 at the break.
Buffalo stayed in command to open the second half as Graham and Waters combined for early baskets to extend the cushion to 44–27. Continued defensive pressure—sparked by steals from Sylvester and Graham—kept Atlantis off balance, while clean offensive execution ensured the Bobcats maintained their double-digit advantage.
The Bobcats were able extend their lead and pull away in the second half behind stellar defense, superb shot making, and numerous thunderous dunks from Graham and freshman Staz Chiddick.
The Bobcats continued to pull away after intermission, using a 17–4 run midway through the second half to put the game out of reach. Benton's three-point shooting and Sylvester's relentless rim pressure highlighted the surge, while Traveon Orr and Chiddick provided additional stability off the bench.
Atlantis never closed the gap back under 25, as Buffalo's defensive rotations forced 17 turnovers and limited the visiting team to just five made three-pointers.
The Bobcats' depth proved too much for Atlantis. Benton erupted off the bench, leading all scorers with 21 points, including 3-of-4 from beyond the arc, providing instant offense that stretched the game open in the second half.
Chiddick contributed 6 points and 3 rebounds, while Dukes added 6 points of his own. Orr impacted the interior with 7 rebounds and 3 assists in just 10 minutes of action.
