Men’s Basketball Rolls Past Penn State Shenango to Open Season
BUFFALO, NY — The Bryant & Stratton College Buffalo men's basketball team tipped off its 2025–26 campaign in style, earning an impressive 87–68 victory over Penn State Shenango on Saturday afternoon at the Burt Flickinger Athletic Center.
The Bobcats (1–0) showcased an efficient offensive attack and unselfish playmaking throughout the afternoon, dishing out 28 team assists while shooting 48.6 percent from the field and a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw line.
Junior guard TaRon Benton led the charge with a game-high 25 points, connecting on 9-of-16 shots, including 4-of-7 from beyond the arc, while also adding five assists. Benton's hot hand helped Buffalo pull away late in the first half and maintain a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
Senior forward Nahshon Sylvester delivered a powerful all-around performance with 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 steals, while Phil Jones Jr. and Terrian Wester combined for 14 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists..
Off the bench, the Bobcats received key contributions from Galen Waters and Zachariah Mianab, who added 10 and 7 points, respectively. Waters provided a spark with efficient shooting (3-of-4 from the field) and perfect free throw shooting, while Mianab distributed a team-high 7 assists.
As a team, Bryant & Stratton Buffalo's ball movement and defensive discipline proved decisive — limiting turnovers to just 10 while forcing 17 from Shenango.
The Bobcats' win capped off a successful opening day of the Bryant & Stratton Buffalo Kickoff Classic, following a victory by the women's team earlier in the afternoon.
Bryant & Stratton Buffalo returns to action Sunday for the final day of the tournament at the Burt Flickinger Athletic Center against Fisher at 6 pm.
