Buffalo Dominates Rochester Behind Big Nights from Scott, Sylvester
BUFFALO, NY – It was a career day for two Bryant & Stratton Buffalo guards on Wednesday as sophomore RaeQuan Scott scored a game-high 22 points, and freshman Nahshon Sylvester finished with a career-high 19 en route to a dominating 89-68 win over Bryant & Stratton Rochester on Wednesday evening.
BUFFALO, NY – It was a career day for two Bryant & Stratton Buffalo guards on Wednesday as sophomore RaeQuan Scott scored a game-high 22 points, and freshman Nahshon Sylvester finished with a career-high 19 en route to a dominating 89-68 win over Bryant & Stratton Rochester on Wednesday evening.
It was a matchup of top-10 teams as Buffalo came into the game ranked third in the latest United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Coaches Poll, while Rochester was ranked 10th. Buffalo shot 50 percent from the floor and forced 20 Rochester turnovers as they overcame a sluggish start to thoroughly dominate their in-state opponent.
Buffalo improved to 7-0 all-time against Rochester with the win and swept the season series. They took an earlier season matchup in Rochester back on November 21st, 86-68.
Scott did most of his damage in the first half, scoring 19 over the first 20 minutes as he went 6-of-7 from the floor and 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. Sylvester scored 10 of his 19 in the first half and sophomore Sam Dorissaint scored 13 of his 16 as well. Buffalo shot nearly 66 percent in the first half, and after a slow start defensively which saw them allow 17 points over the opening 5:25, they held Rochester to just 13 points over the final 14:35.
Sophomore forward Eric Waters played just three minutes in the first half after picking up two early fouls, but finished the game with nine points, four rebounds and two assists. Buffalo had 12 players see action with all playing in double-figure minutes. Buffalo narrowly edged Rochester on the glass, out-rebounding them 38-36. Sylvester had a team-high eight, and sophomore Kalon Kimble had seven to go along with seven points. Denzel Fuller also scored seven points.
Both midseason additions Gerald Bibbs and DJ Little saw action as well with Little finishing with seven points and two steals. Bibbs was held scoreless but did finish with three rebounds. Sophomore Davon Ware racked up a game-high eight assists as well.
Jawuan Brown led Rochester with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
UP NEXT: A trip to Pittsburgh awaits the Bobcats tomorrow, Thursday January 13th, as the Bobcats will matchup against the Point Park Pioneers. It is the first meeting between the two teams this year as they have split the season series in each of the last two seasons. Tip is slated for 7:30 p.m.
