BUFFALO, NY - The United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) announced it's new elected officers of the inaugural Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) on Monday night, which featured Bryant & Stratton Buffalo student-athlete Davon Ware being voted in as the council's President. Ware - a sophomore on the men's basketball team - was selected to serve on the SAAC in January, and will move into his role as President immediately.
"First off, I want to thank God for blessing me with this opportunity," Ware said. "I also want to thank my peers on the council for electing me. As President of the USCAA's SAAC, I want to better enhance and impact the experiences of all student-athletes throughout the USCAA amid their academic and athletic journeys."
The USCAA announced the formation of the SAAC at the beginning of 2021. The mission of the National SAAC is to enhance the student-athlete experience by giving students a voice at the national level, fostering opportunity, and promoting a positive student-athlete image.
The members of the USCAA National SAAC will create a voice for student-athletes at the national level, enhance student engagement, and much more to enhance the student-athlete image. The National Council will be made up of 14 student-athletes from USCAA member institutions, representing each of the USCAA's National Championship Sports. There will be a Senior Advisory Board that will be made up of five student-athletes whose purpose is to provide insight and feedback on past actions, best practices, and serve as a guide for the current council. The inaugural advisory board will be composed of current seniors on their campuses who have prior SAAC experience. A National Office representative and two individuals will serve as the advisors for this committee.
"Davon is a tremendous person to serve as President of this council," B&SC Buffalo Athletic Director and Men's Basketball Coach Damone Brown said. "Davon is a leader on and off the floor for us and I have no doubt that those qualities will translate well into this role. I am very happy that he has stepped up into this role and couldn't be more proud."
