Bryant & Stratton Buffalo (7-3, 2-0) opened the game hot and took an early 20-8 lead. But the Vikings answered, ripping off the next 13 to take a one-point lead. Villa eventually took a four-point lead before Buffalo answered and led by 10, 50-40 at halftime. The Bobcats shot 53.3 percent from the floor in the first half. Sophomore RaeQuan Scott had 11 in the first half and went 2-3 from beyond the arc.
After senior Shyquinn Dix hit a three to open the second half, Villa answered with one of their own plus a free throw. They eventually tied the game at 57 with just over 15 minutes left. The Bobcats mainited a lead over the majority of the next 15 minutes and led by six with 1:45 left after two free throws from sophomore Eric Waters. On the ensuing possession Villa's Juwan Beale, who scored a game-high 30 points, buried a three to make it a one-possession game. The Bobcats then turned the ball over on the ensuing inbounds pass and committed a foul. After two Vikings' free throws, the Bobcats had a chance at the free throw line to extend the lead but couldn't, giving Villa a chance to win. But good defense on a drive by Beale, and good contest on a corner three ensured the ball stayed out of the hoop, giving Buffalo the win.
Freshman Danny Turkvan finished the game with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Dix finished with 14 points and three assists.
