Balanced Attack Propels Bobcats to Dominant Victory Over Albany
COHOES, NY - Newcomer RaeQuan Scott scored 13 points and Eric Waters added 12 as the Bryant & Stratton Buffalo Bobcats took care of business easily 90-61 over Bryant & Stratton Albany on Saturday afternoon. It was Buffalo's first game in nearly seven weeks as they improved to 3-1 on the season.
COHOES, NY - Newcomer RaeQuan Scott scored 13 points and Eric Waters added 12 as the Bryant & Stratton Buffalo Bobcats took care of business easily 90-61 over Bryant & Stratton Albany on Saturday afternoon. It was Buffalo's first game in nearly seven weeks as they improved to 3-1 on the season.
As the two teams traded baskets for the first few minutes while Buffalo shook it's rust off, they held a 17-15 lead midway through the first half. They then rattled off 21 consecutive points to balloon the lead to 23 with five minutes left in the first half. Danny Turkvan started the run with a layup. Eight different players scored during the run for Buffalo including Scott's first two buckets as Bobcat, two long-range triples. Senior Shyquinn Dix capped the run with a triple of his own, one of his two in the game.
After finishing the first half, scoring seven of the final nine points, the Bobcats led 48-21 at the break. Waters buried a triple to open the second half and push the lead to 30. After five Albany points, senior Tyrell Mitchell scored three of his nine points after making a corner three. Waters followed that seconds later with a steal and thunderous one-hand jam.
Buffalo held an edge in nearly every statistical category. They edged Albany on the boards (46-44), assists (23-12), points off turnovers (17-7) and bench points (47-14). Buffalo shot 50.7 percent from the floor and 81.6% (13-16) from the free throw line. Waters finished with a double-double, adding 10 rebounds to go along with his 12 points. He also had a season-high six blocks. Dix added seven dimes to go along with 10 points. Junior Denzel Fuller scored six points, secured nine rebounds and added two steals and an assist.
UP NEXT
The Bobcats will travel down I-90 on Sunday when they take on the Roberts Wesleyan College Redhawks at 1 p.m. The game marks the first for the program against the Redhawks. Roberts is a NCAA Division II member in the East Coast Conference.
