Dix, Caldwell Named November Athletes of the Month

BUFFALO, NY - Bryant & Stratton Buffalo announced it's November Athletes of the Month on Wednesday, as men's basketball senior Shyquinn Dix and women's basketball redshirt sophomore Mary Caldwell were named as the honorees.

Dix, a 5-11 guard from Stamford, CT, completed his first month as a Bobcat, helping lead the team to a 2-1 record while scoring nearly 13 points and dishing out more than seven assists per game.  He shot 50 percent from the floor in those three games and 37.5 percent from beyond the arc.

He opened the season and his B&SC Buffalo career with a 12-point performance in a 81-78 win over Point Park on November 7th.  He went 8-9 at the free throw line and also added five assists and four rebounds.  The ensuing weekend, Dix scored 19 points and went 8-16 from the floor in a tough overtime loss at NAIA contender West Virginia Tech.  He was 3-7 from beyond the arc and also added seven assists and five steals.  A few days later, he scored seven points and dished out 10 helpers in a dominant 100-80 win over B&SC Rochester.  He also chipped in four rebounds and four steals in that game.

Caldwell also began her first season as a Bobcats after sitting out last season.  The Shreveport, LA native made an immediate impact in her debut, scoring a team-high 26 points off the bench to help lead the Bobcats to a 92-83 win over Point Park.  She made four threes and went 6-8 from the free throw line off the bench.  She also added two rebounds and two steals.  The next week, Caldwell scored 11 and hit three triples to lead the Bobcats past B&SC Rochester, 60-50.  She also had four rebounds and two blocks in that game.
